Welcome! I’m Sophie, the artist and heart behind Ceramic Soph. I grew up with a passion for all things art, starting with getting my hands dirty making mud pies after school, to painting, knitting, sewing, and eventually discovering my adult version of mud pies- pottery. I began my ceramic journey while living in beautiful San Diego, California. The minute I flopped a piece of clay onto the wheel and felt totally out of control, I was hooked. The messiness and lack of imperfection that must be accepted to do pottery drew me in. Once I began, I couldn’t stop experimenting, whether it be different types of clay or endless glaze combinations to create drippy and earthy colors and textures.

Each piece I make is created with inspiration from the earth around me. I love to let the clay inspire and speak for itself.
